Nomination Day Statement

Friday was the deadline for candidates to put their names forward for election in the 2022 municipal election. I want to thank and congratulate all of those who have filed to run in Douro Dummer Township.

It has been rewarding to serve the past four years as Douro Ward Councillor and I am grateful that residents put their trust in me to address the needs of residents in the Ward. This election I am proud to be running for Mayor because I want to continue to build on the traditions of our community.

Since being elected in 2018 I have been able to take on many initiatives and demonstrate my leadership skills.

  • I led the rehabilitation of several parks including Clintonia, Daleview, Maryvale
  • Worked to complete significant road upgrades on Daleview
Ongoing safety improvements to Birchview, Douglas and Division Roads and new sidewalk installations in Douro and Warsaw
  • Secured funding for community enhancement projects
  • Been an ambassador and promoter by keeping people informed through my social media accounts and website
  • Chaired key committees including Committee of the Whole, Arenas Facilities Committee, Canada Day Parade and HR Committee

If I am fortunate enough to be elected as your Mayor I will work to:

  • Rebuild and reconnect the community
  • Continue to always be accessible to residents by phone and for meetings
  • Tackle the housing crisis through creative problem solving and building partnerships
  • Address climate change with a mindset to think global, act local
  • Improve our facilities through planning for investment and development of partnerships

I look forward to continuing the conversation in the coming weeks leading up to the October 24th election.
