This isn’t the first time Council has discussed a septic re-inspection program. At our April 16, 2019 Council meeting we reviewed and approved a report on what a township-led program would look like. Further on May 2, 2019 staff provided an update.
The Federation of Cottagers Associations (FOCA) have been working hard on gathering information from municipalities around the province to establish best practices.
On November 16th, I attended the FOCA Fall Seminar for Lake Associations where there were various presenations on the topic including a presentation of their 2019 Report.
There is lots of great additional information from FOCA on their website which I would encourage you to visit to learn more. As well, they partnered with Peterborough Public Health, to create this video so people can get a better understanding of how septic tanks work.
If you have any questions or comments on the matter, I encourage you to attend the meeting or contact me directly.
