On May 5th, we will be holding a public meeting on the Municipal Budget. The budget has been presented to Council a handful of times in the Council Chambers since January but due to the State of Emergency our budget deliberations were stalled. Now that Council is established in holding video meetings, we are prepared to host the final public meeting on our proposed budget.
Typically, we would open the meeting for residents to make presentations to Council. This allows residents to ask questions of Council and make requests on items that they feel important to include (or not) in the municipal budget. This is the transparency and accountability that residents should have and that Council has always invited. However, given that we are unable to hold public meetings due to physical distancing requirements, we are seeking input from the public in writing.
To share your ideas and questions about the budget, comments must be received by April 28th at noon in writing. Details on how to submit comments are available on the Township website.
The public meeting will be held on May 5th beginning at 6:00 p.m. (Regular Council meeting to begin at 5:00 p.m.) and will be live streamed from the Township’s YouTube Channel. It is important to note that people watching the live stream are unable to comment and address Council during the live stream. If you have comments or questions on the budget you must submit them in writing by noon April 28 or contact Councillors directly.
I personally invite you to bring forward any questions, concerns or comments you may have.
