Council met beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a Special Meeting to review the budget. The draft budget was received by Council with direction to hold a public meeting on March 5th to get feedback from the public on the proposed budget.

Currently, the proposed budget would see an increased residential household cost for municipal taxes by $1.55 per $100,000 of assessment value. For a home valued at $300,000 this would be an annual increase of $4.65 but that does not include the County levy.

Residents will be able to have input on the proposed budget ata the March 5th public meeting. The Township website will have more details on this in the coming days.

At the Regular Meeting of Council, we adopted the following:

  • A new Council-Staff Relations policy
  • To proceed with the public notification process under the Clean Water Act for a new wellhead in the Village of Norwood
  • To deem the Canada Day Parade an official Township event and create an official Committee of Council to organize the parade
  • To proceed with plans to explore what renovating Fire Hall #5 would look like

As well, Council appointed me to be a liaison with Selwyn Township for a stakeholder consultation group on short-term accomodation. This is an important group as it sets out to create policies around short-term accomodations in the area.
